All you need to know about Coron

All you need to know about Coron, is a small and wonderful island, located in the province of Palawan, whose main city is called Coron Town.

Coron is home to a number of unique and breathtaking places.

What makes this place best known is the handful of wrecks of the World War II that are permanently buried in this area.

Day trips depart from Coron around wild islets, lagoons or volcanic lakes where you can swim and admire nature in its majestic spontaneity.

Going around the bay by boat, you can immerse yourself in a dimension of pure communion with nature.

You will see beautiful blue, azure and emerald seabeds and you will be able to admire the marvelous limestone rocks covered by the green of the plants.

The thrill of diving into the large and peaceful local sacred lakes, surrounded only by silence and gigantic rock formations, is certainly something priceless.

If you visit Coron you can truly claim to be on one of the most beautiful and unique islands in the world.

How to get there

The fastest way to reach the island is to take a flight from Manila or Cebu City to land at Coron Airport (Busuanga).

Important to book your flight during the day as Coron Airport has no runway lights and flights do not land after dark.

The cheapest way is by ferry from Manila and Puerto Princesa.

The ferry that goes from Manila to Coron takes 15 hours and leaves twice a week, the one that goes from Puerto Princesa to Coron takes about 10 hours.

Another way to get to Coron is via El Nido.

If by any chance you should pass by this splendid place on your trip, you should know that from El Nido there are frequent ferries that take you to Coron in about two hours.

What to see and what to do in Coron

The main attractions of Coron are small surrounding islands, wreck sites, lagoons and many natural and beautiful places that can only be reached by boat.

Therefore, to fully enjoy your trip to Coron you will need to organize tours and boat excursions to visit the attractions.

Tours and excursions can be easily booked directly at your hotel or at any tourist agency you will find on the island or all you need to know about Coron can find keep reading this post.

Here is a guide to the most beautiful places on the island:

Kayangan Lake

Considered the “cleanest lake in the world”, it can be reached via a short scenic walk, with a stop where you can take beautiful photos of the panorama.

The brackish lake is part of a much larger sacred complex: here you can visit underwater caves where swifts nest.

The main point of view that many people know is not actually the lake, but the bay on the other side of Coron Island.

IG @_elo.g
Siete Pecados

It is a marine park quite close to the island of Busuanga, it is a really well-preserved snorkeling spot, with still colorful corals and a very rich underwater life.

Twin Lagoon

It is a double lagoon (twin lagoon), characterized by crystal clear water and a crystalline blue color.

The two lagoons are connected by an underwater passage about a couple of meters wide.

At low tide it is really easy to swim from one lagoon to another, while when the high tide arrives the passage sinks completely, becoming about one and a half meters deep.

However, it is always possible to reach the second lagoon via a wooden ladder.

A true experience not to be missed.

Barracuda Lake

It is another lake similar to Kayangan Lake perhaps with an even clearer water, for a more peaceful experience visit this lake which is not very crowded with tourists.

This lake also has some interesting features like hot springs and seamounts.

Maquinit hot Spring

It is possible to relax and bathe in these hot springs with a temperature of almost 38° C.

Located outside the city it is possible to reach this site by organizing a trip with a local guide or by hiring a private driver to take you to your destination.

Malwawey Coral Garden

One of the best preserved coral gardens in the area, and probably in all of the Philippines.

In Malwawey it is very easy to come across various tropical fish such as surgeonfish, angelfish, butterflyfish and clownfish.

With a little luck, you may even be able to catch a glimpse of large shoals of sardines, forming almost silver walls in motion about ten meters below the surface of the water.

Hike Mount Tapyas

If you’re looking for some adventure that doesn’t involve boating then hike to the top of Mount Tapyas.

While it is probably not technically a mountain, the view from the top is worth the climb, here you will be rewarded with a breathtaking view of the city of Coron and the island of Coron in the distance.

Coron island Hopping

The island tour around Coron is simply amazing and not to be missed.

It is possible to book it at any tourist agency that you will find on the island of Coron.

Here are the destinations that you will go to visit with the tour:

Malcapuya Island

First stop on the tour of the islands, in Malcapuya you can relax on the beach or snorkel to see the famous “giant clams” up close, the largest mollusk in the world, similar to a huge blue-green oyster.

Banana Island

Second stop of the tour, on this uninhabited island there is a very famous and still well preserved coral garden.

Bulog Dos Island

Last stop of the tour, excellent for relaxation, wonderful island where you can swim and sunbathe.

Wrecks and coral tours

Here is a guide to the places you will visit with the wreck and coral tour:

Pass Island

Small uninhabited island west of Busuanga, near the Japanese shipwreck area.

Excellent snorkeling area, even here as in Malcapuya you can see the “giant clams”.

Where to sleep: all you need to know about Coron

As for the choice of hotels, I recommend staying around the town of Coron Town.

Here in Coron Town the hotels offer more services and enjoy a splendid natural setting, to fully enjoy your stay it is necessary to include excursions by sea that allow you to discover the hidden wonders of Coron.

The resorts on a private island instead offer a coral beach and a more exclusive experience, also suitable for those who want to relax and get away from it all, obviously expect higher prices.

Here there is a list of the best accommodations you can find in Coron island according to Agoda users, thanks also to our experience, click the images below and check the best rates and availability

Info and Utility

There aren’t many choices in Western food in Coron, so if you like Filipino food you are in the right place.

Go scuba diving with “Corto Divers”, their boats are well set up and their staff are very knowledgeable plus, lunch is included with the dives and I have to say it was really good.

There are at least three ATMs in Coron and the fee for each withdrawal is 200 pesos per transaction.

Avoid taking the last flight to get to Coron, especially those that leave late, you can risk your flight being canceled because after dark planes don’t land at Busuanga Coron airport.

Many people compare Coron with El Nido, the answer is simple you have to visit them both, put both stages in your travel program because it is really worth it.

Here are some important tips if you want to go on a trip to Coron:

Currency exchange: we recommend that you exchange money at the various exchange offices located in the city so that you can compare them and choose the most convenient one.

Remember that changing them at the airport is always less convenient, so as soon as you arrive, change only the necessary ones for the first day.

Tourist visa: the tourist visa for the Philippines depends on where you come from, for example, for European citizens for the first 30 days of stay in the country, they do not need a visa.

For more information, visit the Philippine government’s official website HERE.

Medical insurance: medical insurance is absolutely recommended, since private healthcare in the Philippines is very expensive.

We are partners with World Nomads, leader for the international travel insurance, get a free quote by clicking HERE.

Telephone Card: it is possible to buy a telephone card (50 pesos only) as soon as you arrive at the airport, with these cards you have to check for the best internet promo between Globe or Smart.

Transport rental: we recommend renting a bicycle or a scooter in order to be able to move independently.

Let’s start here to discover our tours to Palawan and other amazing islands of the Philippines!

What to do in Siargao Island: full guide

What to do in Siargao Island: full guide 1080 810 Marco Santoni

What to do in Siargao Island: full guide

Siargao, also known as the “Surfing Capital of the Philippines” is a small island near the coast of Surigao del Norte, in the easternmost part of the Philippines, just 45 minutes by plane from Cebu.

It immediately presents itself as one of those islands where you would like to stay forever.

An intense blue sky that is the backdrop to the incredible tropical vegetation, surfboards on every corner of the street and that perfect relaxing atmosphere.

Siargao became world famous after the famous surfer photographer John Callahan mentioned this island in the 90s.

This led to an increase in tourists who fell in love with the fascinating atmosphere of this tropical island.

How to get there

The fastest way to get to Siargao is by air, taking a flight from Manila or Cebu, arriving directly in Siargao at the Sayak airport.

Alternatively, you can reach Siargao by sea from Cebu (12 hours of travel) or from Manila (30 hours of travel).

Ferries with frequent departures will take you to Surigao, from there you will have to take one of the many boats that will take you to Siargao.

What to see and what to do in Siargao Island

The most “visitable” part of the island is certainly the east coast, because this is where all the beaches and areas for surfing are concentrated.

On the west coast, however, there are only small villages and mangroves.

There is no beach and it is therefore more complicated to swim or to be comfortable sunbathing.

That said, here is a list of the must-see places in Siargao:

Cloud 9 and the surf

Cloud 9 is one of the favorite areas for surfers, one of the biggest waves develops here, perfect for professional surfers.

It is not a suitable area for first-time surfers, but there are other spots where beginners can practice.

The nearby Quicksilver point is indeed perfect for those who want to try surfing for the first time, as well as Jacking Horse or Cementary (however known mainly by the locals and more difficult to reach because it is necessary to take a boat).

You can choose to rent just the surfboard (the cost varies from 250 to 350 pesos for a day) or take part in a lesson with the instructor (the cost goes up a bit and varies from 400 to 500 pesos and usually you stay with the instructor for an hour or two).

The Cloud 9/Quicksilver area is quite crowded and you will find dozens of Filipino surfer boys who will propose you to take a surfing lesson with them.

However, it should be remembered that you cannot surf at all times of the day.

It all depends on the high or low tide: if there is low tide it is not easy because, first of all, there are no waves, and moreover, the water level is so low that you risk hitting rocks or corals if you fall off the board (and for a beginner this is easy to do), it all depends on the tide.

Tayangban Cave Pool

It is a quarry that can be covered in about 20/30 minutes, but the interesting thing is that you go through it completely in the dark.

With a guide you enter the quarry and cross it with the help of torches and ropes.

Once out of the quarry, you will find yourself in front of a natural pool where you can swim and where you can dive from a rock 2/3 meters high.

The entrance fee is 100 pesos and this point is located near the Pilar area/village.

Pacifico beach and Bay Bay beach

Going north you reach the beaches of Pacifico and Bay Bay.

They are areas where you can surf (there are areas suitable for experienced surfers and areas for beginners) and where you can enjoy a beautiful sunny day lying on the white sand.

The beaches are practically deserted and Filipino children and dogs will always keep you company, who seem to be the guardians of the beach, it is a very quiet place to spend a nice day.

For lunch, you can stop for a meal at one of the local restaurants along the way.

Tak Tak falls

To the north, not far from Alegria, are the Tak Tak Falls, a point of interest very popular with Filipinos and tourists.

You can also get there by motorbike and just walk 5 minutes from the parking lot to reach this natural swimming pool where you can dive near the main waterfall.

It is the perfect place to escape the explosive heat of the sun at midday and take a refreshing bath in the water of the waterfall.

Siargao tours and excursions

The tours and excursions of Siargao can be booked in any tourist agency, there are many so you will not have difficulty finding them.

Here is a small guide to the main tours and excursions:

Sugba Lagoon

Sugba Lagoon is a small lagoon located on the island of Caob off the northwest side of Siargao.

The water of the lagoon is an incredible shade of blue-green and the surrounding hills make it a paradise for photography, it can be reached from General Luna by first taking a bus and then a boat to Caob Island.

There is a 2 storey restaurant where you can relax in the shade and have lunch, a small trampoline and facilities where you can rent a raft, kayak, paddleboard or a small boat.

You can also take part in a day trip with the help of a local agency, or you can rent a private boat.

The excursion also includes some stops in other small islands and beaches: Kawhagan Island, Pamomoan Beach and the Mangrove forest.

The lagoon can get crowded at times and the staff may stop allowing boats to leave, so if you can, arrive early! Be told the best order for making stops during the day to avoid crowds.

Naked, Daku and Guyam Islands

Three paradisiacal islands where you can swim, sunbathe, and take snorkeling.

They can be reached by boat from General Luna (1500 php the private boat, if there are more people on board the cost is divided).

Naked Island is a tiny island where there is only sand and nothing else, it seems to be on the set of Lost.

Get off the boat, you can travel the whole island on foot in 10 minutes, take a dip in the crystal clear water and get back on the boat.

Daku and Guyam Island are larger, there are numerous palm trees where you can protect yourself from the scorching sun.

Here you can have lunch with fresh fish and excellent mango under one of the many famous cottages.

If you take the excursion by private boat, ask the guide to stop at the point called the Secret Garden, here you can jump off the boat, snorkel and see beautiful fish and coral.

Boracay Island: Tips to know before going

Boracay Island: Tips to know before going

Tips to know before going – Boracay is a small island located at the far end of Panay Island (the largest island), in the province of Aklan.

The island of Boracay extends for 7 kilometers with a white beach and crystal clear sea,
Listed by tripadvisor as the 10 most beautiful beaches in the world.

On this island you will find everything you need, wonderful resorts, corners of paradise, opportunities for water sports, activities and excursions, also with regard to nightlife, this island has many entertainment to offer.

We can define it as a destination suitable for everyone, groups of friends, couples and families.
To get around Boracay, tricycles or mini vans are used, obviously very cheap so travel is not a problem.

How to get there

The best way to get to Boracay is by flight from Manila or Cebu to Panay, the island near Boracay, landing at the nearest airport in Caticlan, about 1 hour from Boracay, or at the Kalibo airport about 2 hours away.

The fastest but also the most expensive way is to land at Catlican airport, in short, the choice is yours whether to save time or money and the cheapest way is via Kalibo airport, the most distant.

Once you have landed at one of the selected airports, you must purchase the transfer to Boracay (which can be purchased directly at the airport) which includes the passage by minivan + the crossing by boat.

Boats to Boracay depart continuously, ensuring the crossing at any time of day, there are also night rides but not so frequently.

What to see and what to do in Boracay Island

The main attractions of Boracay are obviously the beautiful beaches, as well as water sports of all kinds that can be done.

Starting with the most beautiful beaches, here is a list of Boracay’s attractions:

White Beach

It extends for 4 km of white beach, bathed by a crystalline sea.
Being the main beach it is also the most crowded one, but this it still remains a paradise.

Manoc-Manoc Beach

Bulabog Beach

Located on the opposite side of White beach, Bulabog beach being quite windy, it is the perfect place for kitesurfing.

Yapak

It is not a beach but a perfect site for diving, in fact here you can still admire the coral of the Philippines, with bright colors, that cover a rock wall that goes down to 70 meters deep.

If you need to rent all the equipment, there are many specialized centers on the island, ask at the reception of your hotel, they will surely be able to point you to the nearest center.

Boracay tours and excursions

As for activities in Boracay it is possible to practice any type of water sport, diving,
organized tours of the island or surrounding islands, and it is even possible to book a helicopter tour of the island.

Here is a small guide to the main tours:

Tour of the island by tricycle

A complete tour of the island aboard the characteristic tricycles, with or without motor, which are the most popular means of transport in these parts, in fact, there are very few cars on the road.

For a negligible amount you can set out to discover Boracay and its suggestive landscapes, stopping at the most beautiful beaches, of course starting from the White beach.

Tour of the islands by boat

This is a tour of the island aboard a typical Filipino boat.

The tour includes a island hopping of Boracay and the surrounding islands such as Crocodile island, with stops at some of the most beautiful beaches and some areas perfect for snorkeling.

Mount Luho

It is the only relief in all of Boracay, actually only 100 meters high.

However, from the top of its viewpoint it is possible to enjoy a crazy view of the sea and the coasts of the island.

Bat Cave

Located in the western part of the island, Bat Cave is another unusual excursion you can do once you arrive in Boracay.

However, choose to visit it only if you are particularly adventurous as the conditions inside the cave are not the best, between slippery rocks and sharp profiles and the possibility of running into snakes, as well as bats, of course.

Crystal Cove

A highly recommended excursion is to visit the small island of Crystal Cove, famous for its caves to explore, and its fantastic landscapes.

This island can be visited by an organized tour, for a price of around 1600 peso per person.

Included in the price you will have an entrance ticket to the island with a tour guide,
free transportation from your resort to the port and round-trip boat transfer from Boracay to Crystal Cove island.

Where to sleep in Boracay island: tips to know before going

The best area to stay is White Beach, in addition to being the most famous part of the island, it is also the most developed.

In fact, it is here that there are numerous hotels, restaurants and night clubs.

The same beach, however, is divided into three areas, called Station 1, Station 2 and Station 3, different from each other for costs, types of accommodation, atmosphere and nightlife.

As the beach stretches for 4 km, it is important to choose the right area in Boracay island and the best tips to know before going.

Station 1

It is the northernmost one and is the most exclusive part of White Beach, with many luxury resorts full of services, which however are more expensive than other areas.

Here is also one of the main attractions of Boracay, that is the rock formation namely the Willy’s Rock.

Station 1 is particularly recommended for couples and families for its tranquility.

Here, too, there is no shortage of sports activities to be practiced in the water and night clubs which, however, are concentrated in a small area and close to each other, so the rest of the beach is quite quiet.

The beach is also wider, so it offers more space and the shallow water is perfect for children.

Station 2

It is the heart of Boracay and White Beach, here there are many accommodations of various types, and with slightly lower rates than Station 1.

Being the most central area, Station 2 is the busiest part of Boracay, so it may not be suitable for those looking for a quiet solution.

Along the beach there are bars and restaurants; when you are tired of being on the beach, you can go shopping at D’mall, Boracay’s main shopping center or sample local specialties at the D’Talipapa fish market.

The nightlife in Station 2 is very lively, thanks to the high concentration of bars with live music and discos, which makes it perfect for young people and those who want to have fun in the evening.

Station 3

It is known as the backpacker’s mecca for the large number of low cost hotels and hostels.

It is absolutely the cheapest part to stay in, but it is probably not suitable for those traveling with children considering that the water in this point is immediately deep.

Despite the high percentage of young people, it still remains the quietest and most green area of White Beach, thanks to a not very lively nightlife there is only one nightclub and a few pubs.

How to get to El Nido by airplane, bus and boat

How to get to El Nido by airplane, bus and boat 2121 1414 Marco Santoni

How to get to El Nido

By Airplane

There are 3 airports located on Palawan Island but the closest to get to El Nido is Lio Airport, then Puerto Princesa International Airport and Busuanga Francisco B. Reyes Airport.

The cheapest flights to Palawan are those directed to Puerto Princesa, where from Manila and Cebu there is a reasonable price always booking at least a month in advance.

The airlines that go to Puerto Princesa from Manila and Cebu are: Philippines Airlines, Cebu Pacific and Air Asia.

There are also flights that go directly to El Nido with the Air Swift company, this at a higher cost than if you arrive on Puerto Princesa but is the short way for arrive there.

IG @airswift.airlinesph

By Bus

Once you arrive in Puerto Princesa you have to go to the Terminal Station and take a Bus at the cost of about 280-400 pesos or the Van at the cost of 550-600 pesos, destination El Nido.

This is truly an adventure, the journey takes about 6/7 hours and you can fully enjoy all the wonders of the island, you can see the real Philippines on the way.

The journey is really tiring because the road is not the best and the drivers are crazy, but I recommend you take this trip because this experience will remain inside you.

By Boat

For the strongest travelers you can also get to the El Nido by boat, but this is similar to an odyssey.

From Manila, you can take the ticket with the company 2Go Travel, destination Coron, then once there, you have to take another ticket, destination El Nido.

Tickets cost around 2000 pesos each and the journey takes about 12 hours each.

For me this option is to be done only if you have a lot of time to visit the Philippines, otherwise the plane is recommended.

Must-Try Dishes in Palawan and enjoy the food

Must-Try Dishes in Palawan and enjoy the food 1920 1280 Marco Santoni

Palawan isn’t just a beautiful scenic spot; it’s also the best place to satisfy your adventurous cravings.

Must try dishes in Palawan and enjoy the food.

People generally think of exotic food as gross and not appetizing.

They have either acquired tastes to most or a grueling challenge have go to accomplish to win money or dare.

However, the list of Palawan bizarre dishes will change.

Danggit Lamayo

When in Palawan, Danggit Lamayo is a must-try dish, also known as dried rabbit fish.

Consider it a regular danger upgrade, it is sundered, slightly salted and marinated in garlic and vinegar and pepper before cooking to get the best out of this dish, the fish itself is bigger in size and the taste is less salty.

You get to eat each part of the fish. If you didn’t known, it’s so juicy and meaty that it is unlike a number of common fish that actually taste great.

This dish is available at Santino’s Grill and makes for a great breakfast when paired with garlic rice and egg.

Lato

Lato, also known as sea grapes is delicacy to be enjoyed with for sure.

That is usually served as a salad with onions, tomatoes and vinegar as a sauce to dip. A known seaweed that is common in the Philippines and neighboring countries.

Lato is the main ingredient in Ensaladang or Seaweed Salad. It can be found at most restaurant in Palawan, they may look small but will surely pack a punch!

Crocodile Sisig

Sisig, a typical delicacy in the Philippines, is getting a unique variation!

The Palawan’s people are trying out crocodile meat that really tastes like beef but is said to be a more exotic and extravagant dish.

This favourite Kapampangan food is taken into the exotic realm when crocodile meat takes the place of pork, chicken or tuna.

Although the dishes are no less indulgent that the other types of sigs, the meat’s consistency is leaner than beef, it packs a spicy lucky due to the general chilli presence.

Tamilok

Tamilok is a mangrove harvested woodworm that starts to rot, often long and slimy.

Prepared as kinilaw, it is dipped for added flavor in vinegar, lime juice and tastes similar to that of oysters.

The mollusc, similar to the worms, don’t look appetizing though they taste divine.

Various restaurant and bars in Palawan, especially in Coron, serve tamilok as an appetizer.

Fish Cordon Bleu

First, if you don’t know what a cordon bleu is, it’s meat breaded and fried with a flour mix wrapped around the cheese. Chicken is the usual meat used for the cordon bleu.

This time in Palawan you can find fish cordon bleu instead of chicken that basically uses fish. Not just one fish but a variety of fish for personal preference.

Bird’s Nest or Nido Soup

A best-seller at Kawayanan Grill, Coron’s number one exotic restaurant, the bird’s nest is mad of bird balinsasayaw saliva or swiftlets used to build their nest in the crevices of Palawan’s limestone cliffs.

But don’t let it fool you by its composition. The creamy yet chunky broth is keeping the locals hungry for more. This soup also has a very high proportion of calcium, potassium, iron and magnesium.

El Nido Tour D Itinerary

  • Cadlao Island
  • Pasandigan beach
  • Natnat beach
  • Bucal beach
  • Paradise beach

The cost of El Nido Tour D is 1200 pesos and is more concentrated on the island of Cadlao.

Cadlao Island has the highest peak of all the islands of El Nido of 610 meters above sea level and is also the largest island with an area of about 1000 hectares.

This island is well known for its white sand beaches, hidden lagoons, its lush forest and as one of the best places to snorkel, in fact if you are lucky you could also meet sea turtles.

The Cadlao lagoon is one of the best lagoons in the El Nido group of islands, you will be amazed by its sedimentary rock formation that gives the impression of a natural fortress around it.

Lunch will be eaten on Pasandigan beach and it is also the area to snorkel or swim on its beautiful emerald waters.

Natnat beach and Bucal beach offers numerous attractions and you can spend the whole day on these beaches.

The long stretch of white sand beach is perfect for sunbathing and swimming and also offers the best sunset view of Bacuit Bay.

Enjoy the walks on this soft sand and for photography enthusiasts it is a perfect environment given the many breathtaking views and panoramas that can be seen by doing this tour.

Finally you get to Paradise beach, a small island with a short stretch of white sand beach lined with coconut palms and is a perfect example of a tropical island.

This place is perfect for relaxing in a hammock or swimming on crystal clear waters and is the perfect place for picnics.

Just off the beach there is an excellent swimming site especially perfect for beginners and the snorkeling dive sites are located on the west and south sides of the island.

Maybe El Nido Tour D is the least popular tour of El Nido, but in my opinion, if you have time, it is worth doing it just to see all the beautiful panorama of Bacuit Bay, which with the Tour D you can see very well.

El Nido Tour C Itinerary

  • Hidden beach
  • Matinloc Shrine
  • Tapuitan Island (Talisay beach)
  • Secret beach
  • Helicopter Island

The first stop of El Nido Tour C is Hidden beach, it is located behind a jagged limestone curtain, as if by magic a shallow bay that opens like a cathedral of black stone walls full of crystal clear water.

This wonderful beach that cannot be missed in your itinerary if you visit the Philippines.

IG @wander.franc

Stuck between two islands and surrounded by pristine water is the Matinloc Shrine, the second stage of Tour C.

A dome-shaped structure with some statues and some colored glass works, you can climb to the top to see the breathtaking panorama.

For lunch we arrive at Tapuitan Island, precisely at Talisay beach, third stage of Tour C, another pristine beach at the bottom of the sanctuary canal.

Obviously fresh grilled food is cooked such as fish and chicken, the inevitable rice, salad and fruit.

You just have to enjoy lunch, sit, relax and enjoy the white beach, swim, snorkel, take photos of the wonderful surroundings and forget all your worries.

IG @djzazo

The only way to get to Secret beach, the fourth stage of Tour C, is to swim.

The boat leaves you in front of the mouth of a cave, with snorkeling equipment you have to swim through the stone entrance and in the shallow bay, along the way to the beach, there are coral pockets with colored fish swimming versus.

The bay water gradually drops and at the other end there is a patch of white sand where you can stop after swimming.

The same dark limestone stones line the bay giving it protection, privacy and a little secrecy, Secret beach is a unique place not to be missed, it’s worth it.

Last stop before the return is Helicopter Island, an island which, if the tide is right and with a little imagination, seems similar to a helicopter.

We just have to enjoy the last hour of the Tour relaxing on the beach and sunbathing before returning to El Nido.

El Nido Tour B Itinerary and things to do

El Nido Tour B Itinerary and things to do 1280 853 Marco Santoni

El Nido Tour B Itinerary

  • Snake Island (Vigan Island)
  • Cudugnon Cave
  • Cathedral Cave
  • Pangulasian Island
  • Pinagbuyutan Island

The cost of El Nido Tour B is 1300 pesos plus the usual eco-tourist tax of 200 pesos, this tax is valid for 10 days, so if we have already done other tours it is not necessary to pay it every time.

Tour B is definitely very interesting, the first stop you will visit is Snake Island, consisting of a long “S” shaped sand bank that is best visited when there is low tide.

This site is truly unique in the Bacuit archipelago and there is no doubt that you will appreciate the feeling of walking in the middle of the sea to head to the island.

As soon as you arrive on the island, you can take a short excursion that takes you to the top of a hill where you can admire the panoramic view of El Nido.

On the other side of the island there is the mainland with a mangrove coast and on both sides there are some corals.

IG @toncica.paloncica

After Snake Island the next stop on Tour B is Cudugnon Cave.

Here you can explore a small cave and crawl through its small opening where you can see spectacular rock formations, once inside the cave you can climb a limestone hill to see a different view of the cave.

Cudugnon Cave is an important archaeological site where pottery dating from the Sung dynasty (960/1279) was discovered and was also used by locals during the Second World War to hide from Japanese invaders.

Cathedral Cave is the third stage of the tour, a short stop where you can take photos of its imposing entrance and if you visit it when the tide is low you have the opportunity to enter inside it by boat.

IG @lens_nirvana

From here you will move to Pangulasian Island, the fourth stop of the tour, which offers one of the widest stretches of El Nido beach where you can relax and sunbathe and swim.

Last stop of the tour is Pinagbuyutan Island, dedicated to snorkelers and more.

This island has one of the most majestic landscapes with one of the largest limestone cliffs of El Nido next to a plain full of coconut palms.

The water is shallow a few meters from the coast but then rapidly descends into a sea full of vibrant corals and colorful fish, the emerald, blue, green and turquoise colored water makes this place one of the best in the Philippines.

Let’s start here to discover our tours to Palawan and other amazing islands of the Philippines!

Best island in the world: Palawan

Best island in the world: Palawan 1080 810 Marco Santoni

If you try to google “Best islands in the world” to spend your vacation, you’re going to unavoidably stumble upon Palawan.

Palawan is the best island in the world?

Of course, there is no way to determine which is really “the best”, there are too many subjective variables to consider.

But, that’s clear, Palawan is often considered the most beautiful island in the world.

Let’s give an example: The Leisure + Travel readers (one of America’s most influential travel magazines) voted Palawan as the most beautiful island, for two years in a row.

Palawan is also the backdrop of many popular movies and TV series, such as The World Is Not Enough, The Bourne Legacy, and La Casa De Papel.

That’s contributed to spread worldwide the island’s popularity.

The real spontaneous question is: why?

Which are the elements that distinguish Palawan from other tropical paradises?

The answer is not simple. Let’s try to identify three crucial aspects which, in our opinion, truly make the difference.

1. Palawan is for everybody

There are flights from everywhere around the world that take you to this beautiful patch of Eden.

From luxurious hotels and resorts, to the lowliest hut for low budget travelers, Palawan is definitely for everybody to take a trip to.

Are you an adventurous soul, always craving for new emotions? Palawan is the right place for you.

Are you, on the contrary, the laziest person you’ve never known, and all you expect from your holiday is extreme relax? Palawan is the right place for you.

Are you interested in local culture or nature biodiversity? Palawan is the right place for you.

Are you looking for the most stunning views in the entire world? Well, guess what? Right, Palawan is the place you’re looking for!

2. Welcoming locals

Filipinos are well known for being welcoming and friendly with tourists and that’s why, Palawan can be the best destination for many tourists.

Is it true? Yes, definitely!

Locals in Palawan will do everything to make you feel like you’re at home. Always expect a smile from them, or a kind gesture: the good reputation is absolutely justified.

Also, Palawan is for sure one of the safest places in the world: you will always feel safe and protected during your stay.

3. Unspoiled beaches and landscapes

Palawan is composed of 1700 islands and islets, many of them are still perfectly untouched.

So, there is no need to buy a bunch of airline tickets to travel to different islands when you can have them in just one trip.

Locals make every effort to keep Palawan as clean as possible who follow the policy of green clean concept in which the areas are kept clean through plantation, not only providing a pollution-free environment but also a healthier and natural look: despite the considerable amount of tourists who often come in package i.e., groups, Palawan is still incredibly clean and pure.

Unlike many other tropical paradises (often more inflated and popular), future generations will still have the chance to see the pristine beaches, landscapes and crystal clear water of Palawan both due to its natural beauty and budget travel.

4. The Biggest Game Preserve and Wildlife Sanctuary

Palawan has been declared as the best island to be visited for many consecutive years and, no doubt, it rightfully is.

Calauit Island, located in Palawan, hosts the biggest game preserve and wildlife sanctuary in the Philippines.

The Calauit Safari Park offers the best experience of living the jungle life as inhibiting almost all the wild animals. Giraffes and Zebras are abundant.

Also, with recent increase in the park’s budget to be spent to promote tourism, it is becoming a heaven for the tourists.

Palawan both due to its natural beauty and budget travel.

5. World’s Longest Underground River System

The world’s longest underground river system available to common visitors is located in the Palawan district.

The national park having this river system is called the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park is situated 50km north of the beautiful city of Puerto Princesa at the St. Paul Mountain Range.

Not only it is the longest navigable river system but also has cave ways that add to its beauty.

To add to its glory, it was names as a UNESCO world heritage site and is included in the 7 wonders of the modern world.

Nonetheless, the rainforest adds another five stars to its beauty.

These are the reasons why Palawan is considered the best island in the world, so, who waits for the right time to go to such a place hosting so many sites that are naturally overwhelmed with beauty?

Every time is the right time.

El Nido Tour A Itinerary and things to do

El Nido Tour A Itinerary and things to do 1280 853 Marco Santoni

El Nido Tour A itinerary and all you need to know about this wonderful tour for enjoy your holiday

  • Small Lagoon
  • Big Lagoon
  • Secret Lagoon
  • Shimizu Island
  • Seven Commando Beach or Entalula Beach

The cost of El Nido Tour A is 1200 peso plus 200 peso of eco-tourist tax valid for 10 days and the possibility of making multiple trips.

The best tour operators to do these tours are Alternative Cafe and The Art Cafe.

The first stop on Tour A is Small Lagoon.

It is located at the northern end of the Miniloc island and is an open-air limestone cathedral, the vertical stone walls form a shallow water lagoon in the shape of an almost perfect circle.

the small lagoon of el nido tour a
IG @Roej32

The part of Big Lagoon is all focused on the boat cruise, this is the best part of the day because you just have to see the water of the lagoon which is truly extraordinary.

The lagoon is extremely low, there are some points to jump off the boat and swim in the turquoise water surrounded by dark and jagged limestone cliffs.

The stop for lunch takes place on Simizu Island, another extremely beautiful island, lunch includes the Philippines version of paella, grilled fish, chicken, fresh fruit, salads and rice.

The most surprising feature of the island is an outcrop of rocks, a razor-thin blade of black limestone is found all over the El Nido river protruding from the sand, this place is simply fantastic.

IG Roej32

You’ll find a mess of boats looking for location as their passengers jump out to swim through the hole in the rocks leading to the Secret lagoon.

Tour A of El Nido seems to be the most popular, the scenario it shows is amazing, it is one of the shortest routes and of course it has the Secret Lagoon as an ace up its sleeve.

Last stop of Tour A is Seven Commando beach, most of the tours end here because it is close to El Nido and it is an easy place to stop.

The story behind the beach is probably more interesting than the beach itself, as the legend says, seven Japanese commandos took refuge here during the Second World War and ended up living here for a certain period of time, the information is a little mixed but this is what the guides tell.

seven commando beach in el nido tour a
IG @Roej32

Other companies such as The Art Cafe choose the last stop of the Tour A in Entalula Island, a beach which is in my opinion nicer than Seven Commando beach.

This is something to consider when booking Tour A.
